PI Network Subsystem by OSIsoft, LLC is a core service of the PI System that manages all network communication between PI clients and the PI Data Archive. It establishes and maintains client sessions, routes requests to the appropriate server components, and enforces security policies such as authentication and authorization. The subsystem monitors connection health and throughput, provides diagnostics and statistics for capacity planning and troubleshooting, and applies configurable limits and timeouts to help safeguard server performance.
Designed for industrial environments, the PI Network Subsystem supports continuous, reliable data flow from data sources and applications to the historian and downstream tools. In high-availability deployments, it coordinates client connections across PI Server collectives to help ensure seamless failover and minimal data interruption. Administrators can configure and monitor the subsystem through PI System Management tools and review detailed logs and metrics to resolve issues quickly.
